What is Upgrade?
The Best Workout in Kansas City. Founded in Kansas City in 2019, it’s the ideal strength and cardio fitness experience that provides a dynamic, high-intensity circuit workout that’s as effective as it is fun. Our 5 station fitness classes alternate between working out with weights, running on a treadmill, climbing on our climbers, challenging yourself on our indoor ramp and testing your midsection during our floor routine. Each day focuses on different muscle groups in order to achieve real results and to help reduce the risk of injuries.
Will I be okay if I’m a beginner or not already in shape?
Don’t worry! We welcome beginners and meet a lot of them everyday! If it’s your first time, we’ll look after you in any class you choose. We don’t have a “beginner’s class.” Upgrade's classes are created for you to challenge yourself — you can set your own level of speed on our treadmill or climber and choose the heaviness of the weights or lightest on the floor, depending on your experience.
To make the most of your first class, we ask that you arrive 15 minutes early.
Do I have to be a good runner?
The great thing about running as a cardio exercise is that you don’t have to be “good” to start. In your first few classes, choose a pace that feels safe but challenging for you. While our instructors will be pushing you, you’ll be the one pushing the buttons on the treadmill panel. If you really don’t want to run at all, you have the option walk, jog or even setup dynamic breaking and turn our tred into a sled.
How often should I go?
We recommend 4 classes per week as an optimal number, with 3 classes per week at a minimum if you’re hoping to see visible results. But, as always, listen to your body — if your muscles are very sore, give them time to recover. Also, for quicker recovery take advantage of our Normatec compression system after class.
How many calories can I actually burn?
First, as with most things in life, individual results may vary. Depending on your body weight and effort in the studio, it is possible for members to burn from 700 to 1,000 calories per class. But it doesn’t end there. Vigorous participation can also help raise your resting metabolism rate so you can burn more calories even after you leave the studio. This is what we call the “after burn.” as you've probably heard before.
Why do days of the week focus on different muscle groups?
Most days, the floor exercises are focused on a specific part of the body. There are two reasons for this:
It’s the safest option for people who really want to get fit fast — switching muscle groups creates the biggest impact and reduces the risk of injury.
We come in all different shapes and sizes, and all of us have something about our appearance we’d like to prioritize.
BUYING A MEMBERSHIP
What options do I have for buying classes?
You have two options — 3 classes or 5 classes per week, depending on the kind of relationship you’re ready to have with us. As you’d expect, the more you commit, the more you save.
What is your refund policy?
As applicable, classes are non-refundable once purchased. However, we do not have contracts and only require a 4-week commitment upon enrollment. This is simply to insure you have the best chance possible at reaching your first one or two goals.
We do not offer refunds on purchases for our services, beyond your statutory rights. We strongly plea with you to be modest in your initial membership purchases, and to make sure you like us, can reach the venue, and like what we do before making extravagant purchases.
Unused merchandise will be accepted for a full refund within 7 days of purchase. After 7 days, a store credit will be issued for up to 30 days.

Can I use my classes at any location?
Thats correct! you have access to all current and future locations.
Can I freeze my membership?
Absolutely! you can freeze your membership for up to one week out of every month. If you're needing a longer freeze due to injury, your expecting a little one or anything in-between we will require a doctors note. We're here so support you as life changes so feel free to ask at any time.
BOOKING YOUR SPOT
Do I book a floor spot and a tread spot?
You only need to book your starting spot, either tread, climber, hill, weights or floor. This automatically reserves you the corresponding spot on the tread or floor, and that’s where you’ll move when the rounds switch.
Should I start in cardio or in weights?
Take your pick! The beauty of Upgrade is that you get the exact same workout whether you start in cardio or in weights.
What is your cancellation policy?
We know how much you love to plan so we open reservations 30 days prior to the class. All we ask is that if you are not going to be able to make the class, you cancel at least 30 minutes prior. This allows us to make sure someone else gets that sweet spot if you can't make it. Anything canceled less than 30 minutes before class starts is a late cancel, and you will forfeit the class from your package. Either use it, or lose it.
OTHER THINGS TO KNOW
Can I leave my kids, pets, or other items in the lobby?
We’d love to share Upgrade's love with everyone, but we unfortunately can’t be liable for anything left in our lobby area. We do not offer child or pet sitting at this time. We love the little ones, but all children must be accompanied by a supervising adult at all times.
What if I’m pregnant or just had a baby?
We strongly recommend you talk with your doctor about what is appropriate for you. Everyone is different. Plus, the details of each pregnancy can differ. While continuing a reasonable program of physical activity and exercise during/after pregnancy often can be beneficial, some modification to exercise routines and exertion levels may be appropriate. Again, we recommend you discuss what is best for you with your doctor, and make sure your doctor knows what a Upgrade workout entails (cardio and weight training).
If you wish, you can freeze a membership for the duration of your pregnancy. We support you and when you are ready to come back to class postpartum, you can take it at your own pace. You know your body best and we are so impressed with our Mamas-to-be and new mamas in class.
Can I bring my phone into class with me?
No! It’s dangerous and distracting to others. We know how vital it can be to keep that phone with you, but please, for that hour you’re with us, pop it in a locked locker. If your location doesn't have locks on the lockers please bring your own.
How old do I have to be do come to Upgrade?
15 is the magic number to attend Upgrade, but you have to be accompanied by an adult until you are 18.
